Turn your old sneakers into places to play!! Reuse a shoe!

The Evanston Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a partner with SWANCC’s (Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County) Athletic Shoe Recycling Project. We’re collecting worn-out athletic shoes! The shoes will be ground up and made into “Regrind,” a material that makes up new sports surfaces and fields, such as basketball and tennis courts, soccer and football fields and running tracks.

  • NO shoes that include metal eyelets, zippers, batteries, cleats or spikes are accepted.
  • NO flip flops, pool shoes, sandals, dress shoes, boots or slip-ons are accepted.
  • Do not tie shoe laces together or pair shoes with rubber bands.

Loft LogoBring your old sneakers to the Loft! (we’re collecting them in the Loft, but storing them elsewhere…) The deadline to donate worn sneakers is Tuesday, May 6.
