My Sister's KeeperWhat do you think about the cast in the upcoming movie, My Sister’s Keeper, due out next month (June 26)? Alec Baldwin as Campbell Alexander, Abigail Breslin as Anna, Sofia Vassilieva as Kate, Cameron Diaz as Anna and Kate’s mother, and Jason Patric as the Dad.  (What about The Judge, Campbell’s dog?)

 

Have you read the book by Jodi Picoult? We recommend it and have copies in the Loft; if they’re not currently available, place a hold today!! We also have the book on CD, and a copy of the book in Spanish: Por La Vida de Mi Hermana.

 

 

Percy Jackson Movie April 7, 2009

last-olympianThe Last Olympian, the final book in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians series is due out in just 27 days and 13 hours (as of this post)! Place your hold on one of our copies here!

 

…and the newest cast members for the movie of Percy Jackson are: Uma Thurman as Medusa, and Pierce Brosnan will play the god Chiron. They join Sean Bean as Zeus, Kevin Kidd as Poseidon and Melina Kanakerides (CSI: NY) as Athena. Percy will be played by 17-year-old Logan Lerman. The movie is scheduled for release on Feb. 12, 2010.

 

Chris Columbus, the director, plans to begin filming later this month in Vancouver.

Runaways headed for the big screen! May 24, 2008

Runaways, the graphic novel written by Brian Vaughan and illustrated by Adrian Alphona, is the latest Marvel comics headed for the big screen.

Vaughan (who is also a co-producer of LOST) is writing the adaptation.

In Runaways, six LA teens are on the run from their villainous parents. As they realize the extent of their parents’ evil, they also discover super powers of their own. Check it out in the Loft!

Relax in a bean bag chair in the Loft on Saturday (Dec 29) at 2 pm for a screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

When Captain Jack gets taken literally to the end of the world, Will, Elizabeth and Captain Barbossa band together to bring him back in this fun filled adventure. The crew must then employ the help of the nine pirate lords in a final stand against Beckett, Davy Jones and the East India Trade.
