On Wednesday evening, the library hosted the first of our Evanston Reads! events. Mawi Asgedom, author of Of Beetles and Angels: a Boy’s Remarkable Journey from a Refugee Camp to Harvard, spoke to over 170 teens and adults and answered questions about his life story, courage, leadership, and why it’s important to never give up. Thanks to Mawi and to everyone who participated and made this event so much fun!

And thanks so much to the members of the Teen Advisory Board who met with Mawi before the program, showed him around the Loft, and introduced him.

Tell us your favorite part of the event (Mawi speaking at the library) by leaving a reply below.

Pictures coming soon!

Mawi will be speaking here at the Evanston Public Library on Wednesday, September 26, at 7 pm to launch the Evanston Reads! initiative and The Loft, the library’s new teen space.
