Worn Out? Play On! February 25, 2008
Turn your old sneakers into places to play!! Reuse a shoe!
The Evanston Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a partner with SWANCC’s (Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County) Athletic Shoe Recycling Project. We’re collecting worn-out athletic shoes! The shoes will be ground up and made into “Regrind,” a material that makes up new sports surfaces and fields, such as basketball and tennis courts, soccer and football fields and running tracks.

NO shoes that include metal eyelets, zippers, batteries, cleats or spikes are accepted.

NO flip flops, pool shoes, sandals, dress shoes, boots or slip-ons are accepted.

Do not tie shoe laces together or pair shoes with rubber bands.
Bring your old sneakers to the Loft! (we’re collecting them in the Loft, but storing them elsewhere…) The deadline to donate worn sneakers is Tuesday, May 6.

Wednesday, January 2 @ 4:30pm: Knitting Workshop
Start the new year by learning a new craft and helping others! We’ll show you how to knit and we will make a baby blanket to donate to Evanston Hospital. There will be a follow-up workshop Wed. January 9 at 4:30.
Thursday, January 3 @ 12:30pm: Chainmaille Workshop
Back by popular demand! Spend some time making cool chainmaille creations.
Friday, January 4 @ 3:00pm: Nintendo Wii and Guitar Hero
Drop-in between 3:00 and 5:00 to play our Wii and PS2!!
Loft closed for filming tonight between 7:00 and 8:00 November 6, 2007
The Teen Advisory Board will be filming a comedic short in the Loft tonight between 7:00 and 8:00 pm. The Loft will be closed during that time.
If there is a book you need that is only available in the Loft, please let us know the title and your name and phone number and we will put the book on hold for you.

Saturday Afternoon Movie!! October 20, 2007
LOL @ at your library!! Come watch The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy at 2 pm today, Saturday (Oct. 20), in the Loft.

Evanston Reads! Event a Huge Success September 28, 2007
On Wednesday evening, the library hosted the first of our Evanston Reads! events. Mawi Asgedom, author of Of Beetles and Angels: a Boy’s Remarkable Journey from a Refugee Camp to Harvard, spoke to over 170 teens and adults and answered questions about his life story, courage, leadership, and why it’s important to never give up. Thanks to Mawi and to everyone who participated and made this event so much fun!
And thanks so much to the members of the Teen Advisory Board who met with Mawi before the program, showed him around the Loft, and introduced him.

TAB meeting tonight September 18, 2007
The first meeting this school year of the high school Teen Advisory Board is tonight, Tuesday, September 18, at 6pm. We’ll have pizza and snacks, so bring your friends who want to join TAB!
